There is nothing that prepares you for that first sight of Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a true original - there is nothing like it in America or arguably the world. In other cities, hotels are built near the major attractions. Here, the hotels are the major attractions.
The result is that once you go to Vegas, you will want to come back again. It's the almost blinding lights that are everywhere; it's the buildings that seek to replicate some other reality (Paris, Venice, New York and ancient Egypt); it's the moutains of food at the buffets, it's the promise of free money. Actually, it's the whole package. It's volcanoes and white tigers and cocktail waitresses dressed in Roman togas. It's cheesy and sleazy and artificial and wholly, completely unique. It's the best place on earth.
And that is why we will be celebrating my final days as a spinster in Las Vegas. I am asking you to join me for a long week-end, filled with fun, fantasy and food. But why stop there? It is up to us to make this experience whatever we want. So, I've compiled a few pages for you to peruse and let me know when, where and how we should spend these few days together.
